Amy Edwards
Owner, Director, Counselor, Hypnotist, Yoga Instructor
Amy is not only the owner of Lotus Rising, she is a mental health therapist (LICSW), a hypnotist and a yoga instructor. A former attorney, who left the practice of law after 10 years as a litigator, Amy understands the feeling of disconnect that many people have between their dreams and their actual lives. She also understands the struggle to overcome and grow through life's obstacles. In the past, Amy struggled with both binge drinking and with breast cancer. She is now proud to be cancer free and "in recovery" with over 14 years of sobriety. Amy brings her experience, strength and hope to every part of her work. She seeks to help people connect or re-connect with their true paths.
Mental Health Therapist - Amy is credentialed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She works extensively with children, adolescents and adults around issues of anxiety, stress, depression, grief, divorce and other life transitions and many other areas. She accepts Aetna, Blue Cross RI, Blue Cross Massachusetts, Boston Health Net, Cigna, Neighborhood Health of RI and MA, Harvard Pilgrim, United Behavioral Health and United Healthcare as well as several EAP programs. She will also accept self-pay with a sliding scale if necessary.
Hypnotist - Amy is certified as a hypnotist (also called a hypnotherapist) through the National Guild of Hypnotists. Hypnosis helps people make any positive behavior changes they desire to make. These changes include, but are by no means limited to, quitting smoking, weight loss/maintenance, increasing self-confidence, feeling stress free, overcoming phobias and SAD, improving focus and concentration for school, sports or other activities and much more.
Yoga Instructor - Amy is a certified yoga instructor. Amy has practiced yoga for 7 years and taught for the past 6. She teaches (and continues to study) Kundalini Yoga. She studied for two years with Gurucharan Singh, the leader of Kundalini Yoga in this country, and with Hari Kaur. Amy is also certified in Level 1 training of LifeForce Yoga®: Yoga to Manage Your Moods, created by Amy Weintraub. Amy teaches and uses LifeForce Yoga for private yoga sessions, in counseling sessions and in series and workshops.
